However, it was kind of a comfortable and we quickly rode to our workshop space.By now, it was time to start the workshop – time to remember our values and stick to our philosophy. It was time for us to remember that the dark is the platform where diverse people encounter. They showed us their gratitude by saying we managed to inspire them to be better human beings. We learned a lot from their hopefulness and endurance.

Dialogue in the Dark is one of the most successful social-franchisees in the World today.

Some of our achievements include: 2017 Mariano Gago Ecsite Sustainable Success Award 2012 ESSL Foundation 2011 Deutscher Gründerpreis 2009 Global Award Winner for Best Innovative & Out-of-comfort-zone event by YPO 2009 Dragon Award for the category “Business with Conscience” 2007 Outstanding Global Social Entrepreneur by Schwab Foundation 2006 Deutscher Unternehmer Preis-Harvard Business School Entrepreneurship Club 2005 First “Ashoka Fellow” in Western Europe 2004 Best Practice in Universal Design 1998 Stevie Wonder Vision Award After running for almost 30 years, Dialogue in the Dark has been showcased in many different venues and for various audiences.

But this time, blind persons and prisoners got together to empower each other, and we rest assure that there are free persons who are more prisoners than those in jail, and sighted persons who can see less than the blind.

With almost 30 years of history, Dialogue in the Dark and its creator Andreas Heinecke have won – besides worldwide recognition – several international awards.

Our black box had been erected at the backyard of the jail.

Our group of 4 blind facilitators was informed we would have to walk and cross the whole prison to get there.

And today we at DSE want to share our joy with you: On June 15th, our program Dialogue in the Dark was awarded the 2017 Mariano Gago Ecsite in the category of sustainable success.

The European Network of Science Centres and Museums (Ecsite) gathers more than 350 organizations committed to inspire people with science and technology and enable dialogue between science and society.

The workshop finished on a very emotional note when a prisoner spoke about labels.
